Course
Overview

In this interactive workshop, participants will learn skills for creating alignment and agreement by fostering open dialogue around high-stakes, emotional, or risky topics – at all levels of the organization. By learning how to speak and be heard (and encouraging others to do the same), participants will be able to surface the best ideas, make the highest-quality decisions, and then act on decisions with unity and commitment.

  • Does your organization (or departments within) suffer from taboo topics, deference, disagreement, analysis paralysis, information hoarding, office politics, or alienation?
  • Are individuals and/or leaders battling slow productivity or low morale?
  • Are supervisors struggling with having difficult conversations with employees?

To address these challenges and others, participants will learn about the five conflict-handling modes and assess their own primary conflict-handling mode. Armed with this knowledge, they will work on developing skills and strategies to better understand conflict and its causes and resolve workplace issues.

Skills and strategies learned include assertive communication techniques, the avoidance of words that can trigger conflict, and the application of essential listening and questioning skills to neutralize conflict situations. The workshop also includes role play opportunities for participants to apply their knowledge acquired during the session.

Business Impact

Productivity improves dramatically when employees are able to have challenging conversations in a positive manner.

Employees bring more “bad news” to leaders who need this objective and unfiltered information to make optimal decisions.

Employee engagement improves as the workplace culture benefits from the ability to handle interpersonal conflicts effectively.

Leaders are better equipped to provide employees with feedback and performance reviews that directly address core issues.

Leaders are able to foster engaged dialogue and robust debate in order to generate the highest quality ideas and alternatives.
