Organizations in nearly every industry have either undergone a major digital shift, are currently shifting or are planning to in the very near future. Technology has been rapidly advancing and for the most part automation and the digitization of once complex processes have greatly improved the speed and efficiency at which businesses can now operate. However, digital transformation often heavily relies on successful software adoption and this can be a tricky process. Many organizations face resistance, confusion and frustration from employees during these transitions.

Thankfully, much of this can be avoided when you implement an effective software adoption training program to assist your employees through the transition. Infopro Learning has more than 25 years of experience creating business aligned learning outcomes to help industry leaders overcome their toughest challenges. In fact, Infopro Learning recently created a successful digital learning series to help a major life sciences company introduce a new transportation software to its global workforce. The program helped this organization increase user adoption rates. Software adoption was an essential step towards the companies sustainability mission and reaching a larger goal of becoming more environmentally friendly.

Solution Highlights

This industry leader was introducing a new transportation management software to improve operational efficiency. There were several different departments and employees in different types of roles that would need to learn how to use the system. They had several subject matter experts who were providing one on one training sessions, but they needed a way to scale the training process and deliver a consistent learning experience to all learners.

Infopro Learning created a best-in-class digital learning series to help employees through the software adoption process. There were 3 essential components that were utilized to create this program. The first was the implementation of a blended learning model. The second were the 5 personalized learning paths that were developed. The third was the use of rich media strategically integrated into the learning modules to increase engagement.

Component 1 A Blended Strategy

A winning software adoption strategy begins with a blended approach. Software adoption occurs in several different phases. We designed this program using different training methods such as video-based learning and simulations to meet the needs of learners in each phase from discovery to mastery. The digital learning series broke down the user adoption program into smaller digestible chunks of content to increase engagement and knowledge retention. This improved the quality of the user experience, increased knowledge retention and engaged learners.

Component 2 Personalized Learning Paths

One of the main challenges this training program needed to address was that employees in different job roles needed to know about different aspects of the system. This is why we created 5 different student centered online learning paths.

Each learning path was further broken down into a 3 part structure that included a foundational series of modules, an advanced series and a application based series.Keeping the content relevant to what each employee needs to know to successfully use the system kept the content engaging and relevant. This strategy greatly improves software adoption rates and prevents information overload.

Component 3 Engaging Design

After the highly detailed learning paths and curriculum were planned out the training modules were then designed using multiple different strategies to provide context as well as interest in the different topics. Each learning path included a blend of animated videos, interactive modules, scenario based knowledge checks and assessment modules with engaging visuals.

The design and content delivery method for each individual module was selected in the format that helped build context and relevance to each topic to further improve the learning experience

Solution Results

The digital software adoption program helped this organization reach its company mission and sustainability goals more quickly.

The implementation of the digital learning program was successful. User adoption rates quickly improved by 35%. Employees were able to effectively perform in their roles and use the new system appropriately. The subject matter experts workload was reduced enabling them to work on other high priority projects.
